Mushroom Manchurian is an Indo Chinese dish. Mushroom is not a favourite vegetable for many people but using mushroom in the right dish gives very good taste. One such recipe is mushroom Manchurian. We can make many dishes using mushroom-like mushroom biryani, chilly mushroom, mushroom 65, mushroom gravy, mushroom soup, etc. This dish will be a great treat for any Indo Chinese fans.

Mushroom Manchurian can be served as an appetizer, snack or as a side with fried rice or noodle. I have used button mushroom, and this is one of the famous dishes in any restaurant. Button mushroom coated in a thick batter and deep-fried and then mixed with Manchurian sauce. Mushroom is a very soft and delicate vegetable which cooks really fast, so cooking time is very less for mushroom.

Tips to make perfect Mushroom Manchurian:

  • If the mushroom is small, then use the full mushroom.
  • I have used light soy sauce if you want more colour then add dark soy sauce.
  • Adding sugar is optional.
  • You can add capsicum while adding onions and spring onions for more flavour.
  • Adjust pepper powder according to your preference.

Here is the detailed recipe:

Take ½ cup all-purpose flour, ½ cup cornflour,

Then add 1 tsp pepper powder, salt to taste,

Then add 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste, 1 tsp soy sauce,

Add water and make a thick batter.

Now add mushrooms and coat well in the batter.

Heat some oil in a pan, add batter coated mushroom and add one by one in the oil. Fry till they are golden brown and remove from oil. Now fry rest of the mushrooms in batches.

Take another pan, add 3 tbsp oil, add finely chopped ginger, garlic, green chillies and mix well.

Then add ¼ cup finely chopped onion, spring onion and saute well in the oil.

Once it is cooked well. Now add 1 ½ tsp soy sauce

1 tbsp tomato sauce and mix well.

Now add salt to taste, a pinch of sugar and mix well.

Take a cup of water in a bowl, add 1 tsp cornflour and mix well to make a slurry. Add slurry in the pan and cook on very low flame by mixing well.

Now add 1 tsp pepper powder and mix well.

Once the Manchurian sauce is thick, add fried mushrooms and coat well in the sauce. Finally, garnish with spring onions.

Serve with fried rice or noodles.

Ingredients

    For Fry:
  • Mushroom - 200 gms
  • All Purpose Flour - 1/2 cup
  • Corn Flour - 1/2 cup
  • Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tbsp
  • Pepper Powder - 1 tsp
  • Soy Sauce – 1 tsp
  • Salt, to taste
  • Oil for frying
    For Sauce:
  • Garlic - 3 clover (finely chopped)
  • Ginger - 1 small piece (finely chopped)
  • Green Chillies - 1 number (finely chopped)
  • Onion - 1 /4 cup (finely chopped)
  • Spring Onion - 1/4 cup + 2 tbsp for garnishing
  • Soy Sauce - 2 tbsp
  • Tomato Sauce - 1 tbsp
  • Pepper Powder – 1 tsp
  • Corn Flour – 1 tsp
  • Sugar - a pinch
  • Salt, to taste
  • Oil – 3 tbsp

Method

  1. Take ½ cup all-purpose flour, ½ cup corn flour, 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste, 1 tsp soy sauce, 1 tsp pepper powder, salt to taste.
  2. Add water and make a thick batter.
  3. Now add mushrooms and coat well in the batter.
  4. Heat some oil in a pan, add batter coated mushroom and add one by one in the oil.
